ADEN (Debriefer)--The Supreme National Emergency Committee for Covid-19 recorded 60 coronavirus cases in eight provinces controlled by Yemen's internationally recognised government, coinciding with the launch of a vaccination campaign against the virus.
The new cases were reported in the provinces of Taiz, 13, Aden, 13, Shabwa, 13, Lahij, 11, Hadhramout, 5, Marib, 3, Bayda, 1, and Dhale, 1, the committee said in a statement on Twitter.
It also recorded 6 new deaths and 20 new recoveries.
They brought the total confirmed cases in the government-run regions to 5.918, including 1.138 deaths and 2.281 recoveries.
The vaccination campaign against the virus was launched after the government received the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccine, 360.000 doses, through COVAX.
The 21-day campaign is targeting 317.363 health workers, elderly people and patients with chronic illnesses in 133 districts of provinces controlled by the government.
