Marib (Debriefer) - The Yemeni national army has seized crucial sites in Marib, commander of Murad front said early on Thursday, following clashes with the Houthi group in the southern part of the northeastern governorate.
"Backed by tribesmen, the army troops liberated key sites in Rahaba district, after clashes in which the Houthis suffered heavy losses in lives and ordnance," Hussein al-Holaisi added in remarks to 26september.net.
The troops cut off Houthi supply routes in the fighting, and Saudi-led coalition warplanes "launched concentrate airstrikes targeting Houthi reinforcements en route to Murad Mont front," he said.
According to the Houthi-run al-Masyra TV, the coalition aircraft carried out 15 raids on Hailan Mont in Sirwah, and targeted Madghal (another district in Marib) with other raid.
The Iranian-backed Houthi group has been raging a massive offensive on Marib since last February, in a bid to take control of the Yemeni oil-rich governorate.
