DHALE (Debriefer)--The pro-government joint forces launched a massive assault on Houthi fighters in Yemen's Dhale province on Saturday, military sources said.
The assault was carried out from several directions in the areas of Bab Ghalq and Al-Fakhir in west of the district of Q'atabah and heavy and medium weapons were used in it, they said.
They retook the Al-Sharji Intersection, 5 kilometers north of Al-Fakhir, and other positions, they said. With the capture of this intersection, they have cut off Houthi supply lines to the Azzab, Bait Al-Shawki and Naqil Haddah, they said.
Yahya Al-Shawbaji, a leader in the joint forces, was killed in the battles. His three sons died in battles against the Houthis in northern Dhale in the past three years.
The two sides have been fighting sporadic battles since the government forces with support from a Saudi-led military coalition liberated most parts of the province in mid-2015.
