Rabat (Debriefer) - Authorities in the Spanish-ruled Ceuta Pocket, north Africa, have deported 40 Yemeni refugees who were already hosted in a center for asylum seekers.
Ceuta authorities exploited the city militarization to illegally deport 40 Yemeni refugees, including minors, the Moroccan association for human rights said in a statement.
The deportees were already registered and hosted by asylum seeker center before the recent crisis broke out, the association added.
These people hope to reach the two Spanish pockets of Ceuta and Melilla, north Morocco, so they may seek asylum in Europe.
This is a grave breach, an activist in the association said, since "these are recognized as refugees by the UNHCR.
"Morocco usually serves as destination for some refugees coming from Yemen or Syria," Omar Naji added, noting that their numbers are low when compared with those coming from Africa.
Last week, some refugees from Yemen migrant candidates from African countries were among thousands of Moroccans who flooded into Ceuta.
