A leader of the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) said on Wednesday that any invitation to enter into new consultations must be preceded by a total halt to the operations of the Arab coalition in Yemen and the opening of air, land and sea ports.

"The equation today has changed, and we cannot stand idly by in the face of the arrogance of enemy," Houthi-run al-Masirah TV quoted a member of the group's political bureau, Ali al-Qahoum, as saying.

He pointed out that the UN special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, "is trying to confirm that there is a round of negotiations, but the national delegation, stressed that it is not possible to negotiate and reach understandings in the event of continued aggression and blockade."

"The doors of solutions for us are open from the beginning and our demand is clear to stop the aggression and lift the siege.", he said.

The Houthi leader accused the coalition of trying to escalate, stressing that his group will face the escalation. He said: "We will not accept American hegemony, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and can not stand idly before the escalation, and the enemy must understand that our sovereignty and dignity above anything else."

He believed that the United Nations did not move to put pressure on the coalition countries to abide by the Swedish agreement, despite its continued intransigence on its position.

He continued: "We do not count on the United Nations and an international community governed by interest and politics, and most humanitarian organizations raise the slogan of humanity without working.

"We have shown the world that we want peace, but we have no choice but to defend our dignity, our freedom and our independence if the aggression continues," he said.

"Our people are steadfast and conscious and there is a big and clear development in the field of military industrialization. We need to see serious steps in stopping the aggression and lifting the siege before negotiating."

He said the coalition "does not want to acknowledge the defeat it has received and is trying to provide some leaks instead of clear positions on the initiative of President Al-Mashat" (referring to the head of the Supreme Political Council, which runs the areas controlled by the group, Mahdi Al-Mashat).
