MSF announced Thursday that it had taken over the management of the novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Treatment Center in a hospital in the Yemeni city of Aden.
The organization said in a statement that it had taken over the management of the center at Al-Amal Hospital located in al-Borayqa district, west of the interim Yemeni capital, Aden, after discussions with the local authorities, according to the Anatolia Agency.
The statement noted that the local health authorities will continue to be responsible for the overall response to the epidemic in Aden, including investigations and the management of rapid response teams.
The organization indicated that its team of Yemeni and international staff is working to provide the best possible care for patients in the hospital.
The declaration of the international organization comes at a time Aden is facing many health problems in light of the political tension in the city, and the authorities are fighting it between the (legitimate) government and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Activists have called on the authorities in Aden to hand over the file facing the spread of Corona to MSF and the World Health Organization (WHO) in light of the deterioration in the health sector in the country.
