Armed clashes erupted on Friday between the Special Security Forces of the internationally recognized Yemeni government and gunmen loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Nassab district in the southern Shabwa governorate.
Local sources said that the clashes, which are still going on until the hour of writing, are taking place in the vicinity of the government complex building in Nassab.
This comes after hours of clashes between the Special Forces and gunmen of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Jardan district, north of Shabwa, which resulted in deaths and injuries on both sides.
Local sources reported that among the dead was the brother of the commander of the Special Security Forces in Shabwa Abdulrahman governorate to Akab al-Sharif.
According to the sources, the clashes erupted after the Special Forces suppressed a demonstration by the Jordan tribes in protest against the killing of one of their sons and the deadline granted by the tribes to hand over the perpetrators.
