Abyan (Debriefer) - Unidentified gunmen on Saturday assassinated a soldier affiliated to the Southern Transitional Council's (STC's) Security Belt in Lauder district, in the Yemeni southern governorate of Abyan.
Armed men riding a motorbike opened fire at Salim Ja'afar outside the al-Hussein medical center, according to Aden al-Ghad daily.
Attacks against members of the Emirati-backed Security Belt have recently increased by Qaeda militants in a city that has seen fierce battles pitting the STC forces against the Yemeni official government troops.
On 5 August, Qaeda gunmen killed an STC soldier in Lauder, northeast Abyan.
On 23 July, two of the Security Belt soldiers were killed in two separate attacks in the two districts of Modea and al-Wadhea, east Abyan.
