Taiz (Debriefer) - At least eleven Houthi fighters, including a senior officer, were killed on Tuesday in fighting with the Yemeni official government troops seen by the southwestern city of Taiz.
"Intensely armed clashes erupted between the Houthis and government troops in the eastern part of Taiz," military official told Xinhua asking anonymity, after hours of fighting.
The confrontations left at least 10 Houthi fighters and one medium-rank commander killed, and a military advance by the government troops, he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, a military source said fierce hostilities with heavy and medium weapons erupted in Taiz's eastern part after a Houthi attack on government troops sites in Sala, presidential palace and Osaifera quarter.
On Friday, violent clashes erupted in Taiz between government troops (backed by public resistance) and the Houthi group.
The fighting continued until Saturday to focus in the northwestern part of the city, with the Saudi-led coalition warplanes intensely hovering for the first time since the beginning of this year.
