Taiz (Debriefer) - The Yemeni national army on Saturday said its forces foiled a Houthi massive offensive in the southeastern part of Taiz governorate.

"The 35th armored brigade's personnel foiled an attack commenced by the Houthis late on Friday in al-Aqroodh front," the brigade's morale officer said in a release.

"The Houthi broad assault took place under an intense artillery and fire cover," Waheeb al-Youssefi added, as a number of the attackers were killed or wounded.

This comes two days after a similar attack in the same front of al-Aqroodh, when the Houthi fighters advanced on the ground, according to local sources.

Separately, western parts of Taiz governorate, namely in Maqbana, saw on Friday armed clashes between the government troops and fighters of the group that has been besieging Taiz city's eastern and western gateways for five years.

In al-Abdala village, the 145th infantry brigade's troops foiled a Houthi attempted infiltration, after fierce fighting that left human losses.
