JAWF (Debriefer)--A new chief of staff of the government's sixth military command in Yemen's Jawf province was appointed on Saturday, military sources said.
Brig. Gen. Mohammed bin Rasiya replaced Brig. Gen. Mujahid Al-Ghulaisi who the sources said was fired in connection with military treason his brother committed months ago.
In April, sources revealed that a Saudi-led coalition fighting in the country sent a letter to the defence ministry urging it to investigate claims of spying and smuggling weapons for the Houthis following the Houthi takeover of large parts of Jawf on the border with Saudi Arabia.
The coalition has been fighting the Houthis in support of the government since March 2015.
It accused Younus Al-Ghulaisi of collaborating with the Houthis.
The defence ministry opened an investigation at the time but the outcomes were not revealed until reports said Al-Ghulaisi was smuggled from the prison of the military police in the adjacent province of Marib in August.
