Jawf (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official government troops on Saturday said they shelled Houthi senior leaders at a meeting with Iranian experts in the northern governorate of Jawf.
"The national army artillery targeted a meeting for the Houthi group's leaders, including elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRG), in barracks southeast Hazm city, Jawf provincial capital," the Yemeni armed forces' media center said in a statement.
The bombing was based on intelligence obtained by the army, saying that  IRG elements were at the meeting, the statement added.
A number of Houthis leaders were killed or injured, it claimed, as vehicles of the group were seen while transporting a number of injuries amid intense guard.
No comment has immediately been released by the Houthi group on the army's claims.
On Saturday, Jawf saw fierce battles between government troops and Houthi fighters, as the Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombed Houthi sites, leaving human and material losses, according to the statement.
Earlier on Saturday, government military spokesman said their forces in the past 48 hours fended off Houthi attacks, carried out reverse attack and made advances on the ground.
Jawf crossroads and the strategic camp of Labinat are now reachable for troops guns, the spokesman claimed, but the group denied.
