Marib (Debriefer) - Military escalation in Marib and Jawf has pushed the Yemeni President to intense calls on Saturday with senior commanders and local officials in the two northern governorates.
President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi asked his defense minister and chief of staff to stick to military plans on the ground and update them in accordance with developments so as to defeat the Houthi group, the Riyadh-based Saba reported.
Hadi hailed courage and sacrifices of armed forces and national residence at combating fronts.
"The Yemeni people is able to foil Iran's subversive project and vicious plots [carried out] by its arms in the region," the President told the two governors of Marib and Jawf in separate phone calls.
He also praised the role played by the Saudi-led coalition in support of the Yemeni legitimacy against the Houthi coup.
Marib and Jawf see fierce battles between government troops and Houthi fighters, as the Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombed Houthi sites, leaving human and material losses.
Early on Saturday, military source told Debriefer that the Houthis seized the strategic camp of Mas, after violent fighting that inflicted both sides human and ordnance losses.
The group made significant progress in the oil-rich governorate of Marib, the source added.
On Saturday, government military spokesman said their forces in the past 48 hours fended off Houthi attacks, carried out reverse attack and made advances on the ground.
Jawf crossroads and the strategic camp of Labinat are now reachable for troops guns, the spokesman claimed, but the group denied.
"The national army artillery targeted a meeting for the Houthi group's leaders, including elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRG), in barracks southeast Hazm city, Jawf provincial capital," the Yemeni armed forces' media center said Saturday in a statement.
