Marib (Debriefer) - The Yemeni defense ministry has captured an intelligence cell working for the Houthi group in the northeastern city of Marib, the ministry-run september.net said on Thursday.
According to investigations, the cell is involved in reporting on vital military sites and machines to be targeted by Houthi missiles and shells, the website added.
"Evidences and probes proved that the cell's member were directly responsible for crimes of targeting civilians and government troops in Marib governorate."
The cell is also involved in disclosing military secrets and intelligence and reporting on the army's composition, equipment, machines and battalions with the purpose of harming the combating operations, it said.
The cell's elements formed intelligence sub-cells, tried to recruit officers and personnel from government troops, and planned for assassinations against military, political and tribal leaders, according to the website.
Last Saturday, Houthi foreign undersecretary, Hussein al-Eizi, said the government army contains thousands of servicemen and high-rank officers "allegiant to us and just waiting for a gesture from Sana'a to perform their tasks."
