Aden (Debriefer) - The United Arab Emirates has not ended its military presence in Yemen, information deputy minister in the Yemeni official government tweeted on Friday, hours after the Emirati Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, declared the end of his country's military presence.
"The world is a small town thanks to media, and everyone knows that you're still in Yemen," Mohamed Qaizan added addressing Gargash.
"Withdraw your troops from Socotra, Balhaf and Meon and stop arming the militias" of the Southern Transitional Council, he said.
The official called on Abu Dhabi to "sincerely support the Yemeni legitimate government... The world is changing, and it's not for your interest to antagonize the Yemeni people."
On Thursday, following President Biden's decision to halt support for the war in Yemen, the Emirati minister said his country ended its military intervention last October in order to end war in Yemen.
The UAE is a key partner in the Saudi-led coalition that intervened militarily in the country in March 2015 to reinstate the internationally-recognized Yemeni government of President Hadi.
Yemeni officials often accuse Abu Dhabi of attempts to divide Yemen and seize its south in order to control its resources and vital ports, charges denied by the UAE.
