DOHA (Debriefer)--Yemen and Qatar announced on Sunday they were resuming bilateral relations, three years after Yemen cut off its relations with the Gulf country in the aftermath of the crisis between Qatar and its neighbours Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and Egypt.
The announcement was made at a meeting in Doha between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the internationally recognised government Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak anf his Qatari counterpart Mohammed Al Thani.
Bin Mubarak said Yemen is keen on resuming and forging the relations with Qatar, stressing the importance to activate mutual cooperation committees.
Al Thani said the bilateral relations are based on mutual cooperation and respect between the people in both countries.
Qatar will continue to provide all support to the Yemeni economy, he said, reiterating his country's firm stance towards Yemen's unity, sovereignty and legitimacy represented by president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
Bin Mubarak arrived in Doha on Saturday, on a visit by the first senior Yemeni official since the Gulf crisis began more than three years ago.
