SANAA (Debriefer)--Peace in Yemen will not be achieved with bargaining or prevarication of promises but with meeting the demand of the people to preserve the national sovereignty and the independence of the national decision, the Houthi government said on Sunday.
The statement was made by Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf at a meeting with the Iranian envoy to the Houthi group Hassan Irlo in Sanaa, according to the Sanaa-based Saba news agency.
Sharaf praised Iran's stance rejecting military action in Yemen and affirming that only a peaceful solution can pave the way for a lasting political settlement.
The four-point initiative which was offered by the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Javad Zarif in April 2015 suggesting an end to the American-Saudi aggression, and the recent EU decision on Yemen lay the groundwork for peace which can preserve all the rights of the Yemeni people, he said.
Sanaa still has alternative options to deal with hostilities of any foreign country, and at the same time, it accepts any calls for peace and political statement based on good neighborly relations and non-interference in Yemen's internal affairs, he added.
