Abyan (Debriefer) - Tens of the Southern Transitional Council STC supporters on Tuesday staged a rally in the Yemeni southern governorate of Abyan calling for the departure of Governor Abu Baker Hussein Salem, days after he sent a convoy in support of government troops in Marib.
The Emirati-backed STC pushed tens of its supporters to streets of Zinjobar, Abyan's provincial capital, in order to call for the governor's departure following the convoy on Friday, local sources said.
STC supporters accuse Governor Salem of corruption, ignoring the bad situation deteriorated services suffered by Abyan, and reneging his duties in providing fuel to power plants in Zinjobar and Khanfar districts.
It is more proper to provide fuel for power generations than to send convoys to Marib, say STC supporters.
In addition to the Yr50-million-worth convoy, the governor sent one million Saudi riyals from Abyan provincial revenues to Marib, according to STC media.
