TAIZ (Debriefer)--Forces of Yemen's internationally recognised government on Wednesday said they advanced against the Houthi fighters in the southwestern province of Taiz, reopening a new road to Taiz city and joining the joint forces in the western coast.
Military demining teams are now clearing mines in the Hinaya Al-Barh area in the district of Mawza tne point where they join the joint forces to liberate the area of Al-Barh, the spokesperson for the Taiz Command Brig. Gen. Abdulbasit Al-Bahr said in a statement carried by the state Saba news agency.
The new road links Taiz with the town of Makha and the western coast through the area of Al-Birayn, he said, pointing out that it is considered a lifeline which will help liberate all Taiz from the Iran-backed Houthi group.
Clashes with the Houthis are raging on the front line of Msqbanah, with the national forces making major advances, he said.
Earlier today, the government forces repelled a massive assault by Houthi fighters who tried to retake positions they lost in the past few days on Maqbanah and Al-Kadahah front lines in west of Taiz, a military source said.
Dozens of Houthis were killed and injured in clashes, the source said.
