Riyadh (Debriefer) - Saudi Arabia on Wednesday strongly condemned the protestors' raid into the presidential palace, and called Yemen's UN-recognized government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) for urgent meeting in Riyadh.
On Tuesday, angry demonstrators stormed into the Yemeni government seat in the Aden-based presidential palace to call for payment of their overdue salaries and improvement of services.
The Kingdom supports the Yemeni government that started its duties in the interim capital Aden on 30 December 2020, the Saudi foreign ministry said in a statement, highlighting the need to give the newly-formed cabinet full opportunity to serve the Yemeni people amid the ongoing hard conditions.
The statement called on the Riyadh Agreement parties for an urgent meeting to apply the unimplemented points of the deal, as a guaranty to unite the ranks of Yemeni spectrum, prevent bloodshed, support the Yemeni in restoring their State and security, and push efforts for inclusive political solution.
Late on Tuesday, the Yemeni government said it appreciates the right to peaceful protest, but dismissed the raid into the palace as "chaos fitting to no form of peaceful demonstration and assault against the State."
