Sana'a (Debriefer) - Saudi Arabia should make realistic decisions to show willingness to end Yemen's war, member of the Houthi Supreme Political Council said on Tuesday.
If it is serious, Riyadh should not bargain humanitarian aspect with any other issues, Mohamed Ali al-Houthi added in remarks carried by Houthi-run TV.
"Saudis mislead the public opinion," since the "international law doesn't allow for blockade as a weapon but they do. Instead of criminalizing the blockade, they declared an initiative that we haven't officially received so far, and the international community applauded them.
"While Yemen suffers the world's worst humanitarian crisis, according to the international community, they offered us to bargain access to oil, medicine and others," the Houthi official said.
He called on the Kingdom to cease fire and withdraw mercenary militias to "prove for the world that we aren't, and you are, apt for peace."
Asked about Houthi rejection of the Saudi ceasefire plan, he said: "To say we've refused the Saudi initiative, we've to receive a written initiative. What we've received from the Omanis doesn't amount to what should be presented in peace vision."
What the US special envoy for Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, offered via Omani mediation does not meet expectations, the Houthi added, noting that Washington is still far away from peace plans.
"We know that the American statements are but propaganda uproar we don't look at with credibility, and we don't expect from the Americans to outline our role in our country."
As for links to Iran, the Houthi official said his group does not accept to be dependent on anybody. "Let them sign with us the inclusive solution document we introduce to let the world know whether our decision is made by Tehran or by ourselves.
On 22 March, the Saudi FM declared a new peace initiative to end war and solve the crisis in Yemen, calling on the Yemeni government and the Iranian-backed Houthi group to positively respond.
Under the initiative, an inclusive nationwide ceasefire would directly monitored by the UN, blockade imposed by the Arab coalition on Hodeida port would be partially lifted and Sana'a airport would be reopened for limited destinations, FM Faisal Bin Farhan said.
