Riyadh (Debriefer) - All signs indicate that the Houthi group is unwilling to de-escalate or find an inclusive political solution to Yemen's war, spokesman for the official government said Wednesday, noting that the group wants to buy time and make gains on the ground.
"There is persistent escalation in Marib and shelling on camps of the displaced who live hard humanitarian conditions, and ballistic missiles were fired at Marib's populated quarters," Rajih Badi added in remarks to Asharq al-Awsat.
All this means the group illusively deals with international efforts, in order to gain more time, and has no desire to engage in de-escalation or in an inclusive political solution, he said.
"Using this language, amid international moves for lull and positive reaction to the Saudi initiative, will kill the international ongoing efforts," the government spokesman warned.
"Ceasefire and halt of killing the civilians are in the heart of humanitarian work, and stopping the attack on Marib is a mere humanitarian file.
The Iranian-backed Houthis want to buy time and show Tehran that they can accomplish the battle, while in fact they can only bomb civilians whom they pretend to defend, Badi said.
