MARIB (Debriefer)--The forces of Yemen's internationally recognised government on Monday said they are continuing the battle against the Houthi militia in the northeastern province of Marib.
We have made great advances in the past hours on the front-lines of Al-Mashjah, Al-Kasarah, Hilan and Al-Makhdarah with support from a Saudi-led coalition supporting the government, the army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Abdu Mujali said
The coalition targeted Houthi forces, positions and vehicles, he said.
The Houthis launched an offensive to seize the oil-rich Marib in February.
The province, which is considered the metropolis of the war-torn country, hosts more than 2 million IDPs.
Marib is too far from the Iranian ambitions and Iran can't seize it with terrorist militias or drugged media, Mujali said in a statement carried by the army mouthpiece 26 September news website.
A recent report by AFP claiming the Houthis seized Al-Kasarah area was in line with Iran-backed Houthi fabrications, he said.
The Houthi militia is trying to use international media to strengthen its psychological warfare and mislead the international opinion, he said.
The French Press Agency said the Houthis were 6 kilometres from the centre of Marib city after winning clashes on Al-Kasarah front-line and killing dozens of government forces, including four top officers.
We deny news published by Agence France Presse on the control of the Iranian-backed militia of Al-Kasarah in northwest of Marib and express our deep regret that such a global agency has been involved in misinformation, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani said.
We confirm that the National Army and the Popular Resistance in Marib are steadfast in their positions on various fronts, confronting all suicide attacks and inflicting heavy losses on the terrorist Houthi militia, the minister added.
