Yemen reports new coronavirus cases coinciding with a vaccination campaign it launched last week

ADEN (Debriefer)--Yemen's Supreme National Emergency Committee for Covid-19 recorded 32 new infections and 12 new deaths on Sunday to raise the total confirmed cases in the government-controlled provinces since March 2020 to 6.137, including 1.187 deaths and 2.546 recoveries.

The new infections were reported in Taiz, 15, Hadhramout, 7, Shabwa, 5, and the interim capital Aden, 4, and one in Dhale. The deaths were reported in Hadhramout, 4, Mahrah, 2, Marib, 2, and 2 in Taiz and Dhale.

The committee also said 60 patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours in Hadhramout, Taiz, Mahrah, Lahij and Shabwa.

The Houthi group is hiding information about the virus outbreak in regions under its control in far northern and western Yemen.

Top leaders of the group have recently died from complications linked to Covid-19.
