MUSCAT (Debriefer)--The Houthi group said on Thursday the call by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for it to sit at the negotiation table depends on practical measures, including lifting the Saudi-led blockade on Yemen and prioritising humanitarian needs of its people.
Such measures will be welcome and prove real intentions of peace in Yemen, the group's spokesperson and chief negotiator Mohammed Abdulsalam said.
A Saudi-led coalition supporting the internationally recognised government has been imposing an air, sea and land embargo on the country since it launched a military intervention in March 2015.
On Tuesday, bin Salman renewed his call on the Houthis to accept a peace initiative Saudi Arabia offered weeks ago to end the war in the country.
In an interview on Alarabiya TV, he urged the Houthis to sit at the negotiation table to reach a solution which guarantees the rights of all Yemeni factions and the interests of the region.
We will offer all necessary political and economic support in return for ceasing fire, he said, affirming that his country will not accept militias along its borders.
