Marib (Debriefer) - The Iranian-backed Houthi group on Monday fired a ballistic missile at a residential quarter in the Yemeni northeastern city of Marib, leaving civilian casualties.
The shrapnel wounded seven civilians at least, medical sources said, in initial toll of the missile that hit the oil-rich city.
The Houthi missile was fired at 12:30 dawn (local time), shelling an inhabited quarter downtown Marib, local source told the Aden-based Saba, as the injured were taken to hospital for medication.
This is the fifth missile fired by the Houthis at Marib city in one week, the source added.
While no immediate statement has been officially issued by the Houthis, media supporting the group said the missile targeted the third military region's HQs and Sahn al-Jen camp, seat of the official defense ministry.
For three months, Marib has been the scene of the fiercest battles pitting the national army and tribesmen against the Houthi group that seeks to take control of the strategic city hosting Yemen's largest oil fields.
