SANAA (Debriefer)--The military spokesperson for the Iran-allied Houthi group Yahya Sarea on Friday denied reports about dismantling a naval minefield in Yemeni islands of Hunaish and Zuqar in south of the Red Sea as baseless and untrue.

What the press of the aggression countries are saying about naval mines is just fabrications, he said.

These countries are seeking to mislead the international public opinion that the Yemeni army and popular committees pose a threat to international navigation, he added.

On Monday, the pro-government Joint Forces that are stationed in western Yemen said they had discovered a naval minefield in the area of Siyoul of the island of Hunaish.

The minefield, around 500 metres from land, included two barrels, 200 litres each, attached to a network of wires and detonators, the information centre of the forces said.

The types of the mines were similar to those produced and used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, it said.
