DUBAI (Debriefer)--Former prime minister Khalid Bahah said the UN sanctions on Houthi leaders are not enough to stop the hostilities of the Iran-allied Houthi group or push it to re-engage in the political process.
The United Nations Security Council recently imposed sanctions on four Houthi leaders, including an assets freeze and travel ban. The four are involved in the offensive in Marib province and ballistic missile and drone attacks against civilians and civilian objects in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The sanctions are not expected to help change the behaviours of this group at a time when it is escalating its attacks on Marib, Bahah said.
Meanwhile, I hope that international efforts and attempts to end the crisis in Yemen continue, he said, pointing out that the humanitarian crisis must sound the alarm so that the warring parties give concessions in order to end the suffering of the people.
