Riyadh (Debriefer) The Arab coalition has foiled a Houthi attempted attack south the Yemeni northeastern governorate of Marib, the coalition said Monday in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Coalition war planes carried out 25 airstrikes thwarting the Houthi attack in the southern part of Marib, damaging 12 Houthi combating machines and leaving more than 150 fighters killed or injured, according to SPA.
The Iranian-backed Houthi group launched the "fiercest" offensive aimed at Thenna south Marib, since late Sunday until Monday dawn, military sources said, as the group kept sending successive crowds over ten hours.
Backed by coalition aircraft, the national army and tribesmen fended off the Houthi attack and inflicting severe losses to the group in humans and ordnance, the sources added.
The coalition fighter jets on Sunday launched 8 raids on Sirwah and other 6 on Jowba districts, Houthi media said without further details.
On Thursday, an official in the Houthi-run defense ministry told AFP that 14,700 Houthi fighters had been killed in coalition airstrikes since mid-June.
