The Iranian assistant foreign minister on Thursday welcomed the ongoing talks between Yemeni parties to end the 4.5-year war in the country.
A political solution through Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue is the only way out of the war in Yemen, Syed Abbas Araqji said at meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Khalid Jarullah, according to IRNA.
The Iranian official haled the positive efforts exerted by Kuwait and its Amir in referring to dialogue in the region.
The Kuwaiti diplomat insisted on continual bilateral meetings on relations between the two countries and on regional affairs, noting that the GCC states are interested in scaling down tensions in their lands, and that dialogue is the only way to solve their problems.
The United States is engaged in mediation, along with Oman and with Kuwaiti support, the Kuwaiti al-Qabas paper quoted an Arab senior official as saying. The three countries are seeking to end the war and maintain the unity of Yemeni territories.
On 22 November, Kuwait said it is prepared to host Yemeni new negotiations, under UN sponsorship, to reach a final, inclusive deal for the crisis.
Yemen has been racked by an armed conflict that broke out after the Iranian-backed Houthis had ousted the internationally-recognized government late in 2014.
The conflict escalated after a Saudi-led coalition intervened militarily in the country in March 2015 to reinstate the government of President Hadi.
