Dhalea (Debriefer) - Commander of the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) Security Belt forces in Qa'ataba was assassinated on Saturday.
A gunman shot dead Colonel Hashid Raishan, commander of the Security Belt forces' northern sector in Dhalea's largest district, while the officer driving his car in Raishan valley, local sources said.
Two of the colonel's sons and the attacker were injured in gunfire, the sources added, noting that the "attack was likely criminally motivated over previous disputes."
Security authorities were reluctant to give Debriefer correspondent comments on the attacker's identity and his actual motives.
