Sana'a (Debriefer) - Yemen's Houthis belittle the US decision blacklisting them as a foreign terrorist group, the Houthi information minister said Monday.
The American designation "has no meaning on the ground" and will not have that impact as perceived, Dhaifallah al-Shami added in press remarks.
It "won't affect our military or social course. Instead, we'll be stronger and more determined to confront America," he said.
"The US decision will block channel before UN steps to stop war and blockade, and will prolong the conflict," the Houthi official argue.
"The decision was stemmed from internal conflict as the current administration is about to end and Trump to leave. It seeks to ease burden on Washington's Saudi and Emirati allies," according to Shami.
On Monday, the US Secretary of State said his department would advise the Congress to designate the Houthis as a terrorist group and to add Abdul Malik (their leader), Abdul Khaliq al-Houthi and Abdullah Yahiya al-Hakim into the global terrorists list.
These designations will provide additional tools to confront the Houthi terrorist activity, and they aim to hold the group responsible for its terrorist acts, including trans-border attacks threatening civilians, infrastructure and commercial shipping, Mike Pompeo added.
The US decision sparked concerns among Yemenis, as the UN warned of its critical complications on humanitarian and political fields.
