Sana'a (Debriefer) - The Houthis on Thursday criticized the UN envoy's briefing to the UN Security Council on the group's recent military escalation and attack on the northeastern governorate of Marib.
Earlier on Thursday, Envoy Martin Griffiths said combats took dangerous escalating course in Yemen in the last month with the Houthi attack on Marib, calling on the group to stop the aggression that jeopardizes the life of millions of civilians.
However, member of the Houthi Supreme Political Council said, "the battle is continuous and hasn't stopped since their failed attack on Nihm until today. But Griffiths comes to describe the battle as an attack on Marib.
"The UN envoy knows that the aggression rejected at the beginning the nine-point initiative on Marib, under the pretext that the aggression countries and their supporters in their way to liberate the capital Sana'a, and didn't accept to stop raids or lift blockade in return for a halt to shelling," Mohamed Ali al-Houthi added.
In his briefing, Griffiths underlined the need for the attack on Marib to stop, since it puts civilians at risk, particularly with fighting nearing the IDP camps in the governorate.
Using force to achieve gains on the ground threatens peace process, the UN envoy for Yemen told the UNSC.
