RIYADH (Debriefer)--The Saudi-led coalition on Friday said it destroyed an explosives-laden drone fired by the Houthi group from Yemen towards the province of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia.

It was the second attack by the Iran-allied group against Saudi territories this week, adding that it is taking necessary operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects, according to the Saudi press agency.

On Monday, it shot down two Houthi explosives-laden drones fired towards Khamis Mushait.
Saudi Arabia leads a military coalition which has been fighting in Yemen since 2015.

The Houthis say their missile and drone attacks on it are in retaliation for its military campaign in the country.

They have fired more than 800 drones and ballistic missiles into Saudi territories in the past six years, according to statements by Saudi officials.

Lately, the US Administration stressed the necessity of cessation of all hostilities in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

It held the Houthi group responsible for exacerbating humanitarian crisis in Yemen which the UN says is the largest in the world.
