RIYADH (Debriefer)--The Saudi-led coalition on Monday said it shot down an explosives-laden drone fired by Yemen's Houthi group against the province of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia.
It was the second attack against Saudi territory in the past 24 hours, it said in a statement.
The coalition has been fighting the Iran-allied group in support of Yemen's internationally recognised government since March 2015.
It said it is taking operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects in the Saudi Kingdom.
The group has intensified drone and missile attacks against Saudi Arabia since a new UN envoy for Yemen was appointed more than a week.
The attacks come in retaliation for the Saudi-led bombing campaign, it says.
On Sunday, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal Al Saud said his country preserves the right to respond to Houthi attacks and protect its people.
