Lahj (Debriefer) Unknown armed men on Monday assassinated a security officer affiliated to the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Yemeni southern governorate of Lahj.
The gunmen shot dead Ahmed Saleh al-Qamishi, chief officer of al-Rabat checkpoint held by the STC-affiliated Security Belt forces, local sources said, as the assassins fled the scene.
Motives behind the attack have not immediately been unveiled, as no party claimed responsibility, and no official statement was released by security authorities.
