Mukalla (Debriefer) The Yemeni forces on Saturday foiled a terrorist plot aimed to blow up service, military and security facilities in Hadhramout, governor of the eastern governorate said.
"Intelligence and security bureaus arrested a 5-member terrorist cell led by a first-rank terrorist leader," General Faraj al-Bohsoni added in a statement on Facebook.
The terrorist leader exposed serious information on plots through which the terrorist militants aimed to blow up vital facilities, like the Central Bank, police department, military camps and local authority building, the Yemeni government official said.
Hadhramout authorities took decisive and deterrent measures against the groups seeking evil for the governorate, Bohsoni added, hailing the intelligence and security bodies for the great success in foiling terrorist plots.
The governor called Hadhramout people to support military and security forces "in these days when enemies contended for Hadhramout."
Al-Qaeda has presence in some Yemeni provinces, and the terrorist group took control of Mukalla, Hadhramout center, in April 2015. Its seizure remained one year, before the official government troops freed the city in April 2016.
