LAHIJ (Debriefer)--Hundreds of people took to streets of Yemen's southern province of Lahij to protest against deteriorating living conditions.

They burned tires and closed roads in Al-Hawtah district and demanded to address the crash of the national currency. The rial is trading at 1,400 per US dollar in government-controlled regions, compared with 215 before the war broke out in late 2014.

On Sunday, a demonstration was staged in Al-Anad area, with people criticising the government's silence over the economic crisis.

Demonstrations have been recently in other southern and eastern provinces where employees claim they have not received salaries for months.
