Yemen, UAE ink agreement to build solar energy plant

Abu Dhabi (Debriefer) The Yemeni official government on Wednesday signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates to build a solar energy plant in the southern port city of Aden.
Under the deal, Abu Dhabi will fund the construction of a station expected to generate 120 megawatt per hour, along with transmission lines and substations, the Aden-based Saba said.
The agreement was inked by the Yemeni minister of electricity (Mane'i Bin Yameen) and Aden governor (Ahmed Lamlas) as Yemeni representatives, and director of clean energy department in Abu Dhabi company for future energy (Fawaz al-Mahrami.
The project is expected to reduce energy generation costs in the day, and minimize dependence on fuel for stations, Bin Yameen said. "It will help maintain environment by lessening carbonic emissions."
