SANAA (Debriefer)--A senior Houthi leader has held the United States of America and a Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen responsible for assassinating youth and sports minister in the Houthi salvation government, Hassan Zaid.
"Martyr Hassan Zaid refused to join the Saudi-led coalition and adopted an eternal stance, and that's why the coalition offered a reward for killing him," member of the Houthi group's supreme political council, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
Gunmen showered dead Zaid with 21 bullets while he was driving with his daughter in downtown Yemen's capital Sanaa on Tuesday. His daughter was seriously injured.
Shortly after the incident, the Houthi interior ministry said elements working for the coalition were responsible for the assassination within a plot targeting the national cadre.
In 2017, Zaid was put on a list of 40 Houthi leaders wanted by the coalition. $10 million was offered for information leading to him.
