Amman (Debriefer) - Western powers would intervene in Yemen if the Saudi-led coalition leaves or pulls out from the war-torn country, the Saudi ambassador to Jordan warned on Monday.
Arab coalition's withdrawal from Yemen could force western powers to directly intervene in the country to fight terrorist groups and stop the Iranian aggression, Nief al-Sadiri added at interview with the Sputnik International.
The international community is now aware of the need for supporting the Kingdom-led coalition efforts to combat the terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and Daesh, the Saudi diplomat urged.
The Houthi group of follows Tehran's dictations, refuses calls for political dialogue and defies the UN Security Council's resolutions, prolonging the conflict, the envoy claimed.
Saudi Arabia is today taking part in Yemen's war to defend its territories where civilian places were targeted by "terrorist acts" through "more than 312 ballistic missiles and nearly similar number of bomb-laden drones," Sadiri added.
The Saudi diplomat's remarks come two days after a US Democrat MP talked about an end to the US support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen, following Joe Biden's win of the US president election.
During his campaign, the US elected President said he intends to reassess Washington's relations with Riyadh and to end the US support for war in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition in Yemen since 26 March 2015, in support of forces loyal to President Hadi to retake areas controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthi group.
