Taiz (Debriefer) - Chief of operations in the Yemeni government 145th brigade was late on Saturday in fighting with Houthi fighters that also left commander of the presidential guard 5th brigade injured in the southwestern city of Taiz.
Colonel Hamza Shaddad and other four troops were killed, military source told Debriefer, as General Adnan Rozaiq was wounded in fierce battles with Houthis in Madarat area west Taiz.
The area witnessed violent clashes between the government troops and the Houthi group, as both sides exchanged shelling with different light and medium weapons, after Houthi attack on official army in Han Mont.
The confrontations concentrated on the Hithran and Madarat front, but the fiercest occurred in the vicinity of Han Mont held by the government army, according to the source.
No remarks have immediately been released by the government troops in this regard.
With nearly 600,000 people, Taiz city has been experiencing a blockade imposed by the Houthis since 2015, with the group's fighters controlling the city's main gates, while its center is held by the government army.
