CAIRO (Debriefer)--Advisor to Yemen's president Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi on Tuesday said the US designation of the Houthis as a terrorist group serves the peace process and meets the demands of the government, the people and human rights organisations and international resolutions on Yemen.
The Houthi group has undermined all peace efforts, a matter which requires more international pressure on the group to end its coup and accept peace, he wrote on Twitter.
The US designation came years after the Yemeni people's designation of the Houthis as a terrorist groups based on their crimes and acts of terror, he said.
The attack on Aden airport when the government landed at it was one of the most hideous terrorist crimes that required UN and international condemnation and designating those responsible as terrorists, he said.
He raised a question about international double standard condemning Daesh and ignoring Houthis whose crimes are no less hideous than those of Daesh.
The US administration on Monday designated the Houthi movement as a foreign terrorist group and put a number of its members including its leader Abdulmalik Al-Houthi on terror list.
