SANAA (Debriefer)--The Yemeni Houthi-run Parliament on Saturday welcomed the US decision to end support to the Saudi-led military operation in Yemen and halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The decision marked a shift in the US policy and a positive step that should be translated into realities to end the suffering of the Yemeni people, it said, according to the Sanaa-based Saba news agency.

Saudi Arabia leads a coalition, including the UAE, which has been fighting the Houthi group since March 2015.

The Parliament also hailed US reconsideration of the terrorist designation of the Houthi group, calling on the UN Security Council to take immediate action to end the aggression and blockade on Yemen.

Two days ago, US President Joe Biden said the war in Yemen must end, vowing to help end it through diplomatic means.
He appointed Tim Lenderking as an envoy to Yemen.
