Riyadh (Debriefer) - The Saudi-led coalition Joint Forces have intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone en route to Saudi lands, the coalition spokesman said early on Sunday.
The bomb-laden drone was systematically fired by the Houthi group to deliberately target civilian objects and civilians in the Saudi southern region, Turki al-Maliki added in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
The statement failed to locate where the drone was launched and intercepted, and no comment has immediately been issued by the Houthi group.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition in Yemen since 26 March 2015, in support of forces loyal to President Hadi to retake areas controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthi group.
Since then, the Houthis have sent explosive-laden drones and boats and ballistic missiles targeting Saudi and Yemeni troops inside Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
