Marib (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official defense ministry has ordered a secret probe into the circumstances of Marib special forces commander's death, according to media reports.
Last Saturday, the government troops said General Abdul Ghani Sho'alan killed while fighting the Houthis in Sirwah, west the Yemeni northeastern city of Marib.
Social media activists circulated a leaked document issued by Yemen's defense minister, Mohamed Ali al-Maqdashi, instructing the formation of a committee to investigate the death of commander Sho'alan.
The committee will be led by the armed forces' general inspector (Gen Adel al-Qumairi), as well as chief of intelligence in the third military region (Gen Abdul Malik al-Mohamedi) and Marib military police commander (Gen Naji Moneef) as members, the document read.
No comment was obtained by Debriefer correspondent from the defense ministry or the office of the chief of staff, to whom the document was addressed.
