Riyadh (Debriefer) - The Arab coalition on Wednesday announced the thwart of a new attack launched by the Houthi group on the southern region of Saudi Arabia using a drone.
The coalition Joint Forces intercepted and destroyed a Houthi bomb-laden drone en route to the south of the Kingdom, the coalition said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi-led coalition is observing a hostile activity in which bomb-laden drones are sent from Houthi-held areas, and "taking operational measures to neutralize threat sources and protect civilians and civilian objects according to the international humanitarian law," it added.
No immediate comment has been released by the Houthi group on the coalition's statement.
On Tuesday, the Houthis said their "air drone force was able to target warplane emplacements in the international airport of Abha, using Kasif2 drone," which the coalition said its forces intercepted.
The Iranian-backed group has recently stepped up its attacks on Saudi targets using booby-trapped drones and ballistic missiles.
