Riyadh Sana'a (Debriefer) - The Yemeni official foreign ministry on Sunday handed the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) a memo protesting a meeting the latter's head of Yemen mission held with Iran's envoy to the Houthis, an official in the foreign ministry said.
The ministry expects explanations from the ICRC on circumstances of the mistake made by its office, in the form of Katrina Ritz's meeting with Hassan Irloo, "blacklisted by Yemen" as "commander of the Revolutionary Guard in Houthi-held areas," the official added.
Earlier on Sunday, Irloo met with Ritz and called on the ICRC to practice pressures on the international community to lift blockade imposed on Yemen, according to Iranian media.
Ritz promised that the ICRC would save no effort contributing to alleviation of humanitarian suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
