MARIB (Debriefer)--The forces of Yemen's internationally recognised government on Monday said they repelled a Houthi assault on their positions in the area of Al-Kasarah, coinciding with Saudi-led airstrikes on Houthi forces and reinforcements in the area west of Marib province.
Dozens of Houthi fighters were killed and injured in the battles with the government forces and tribal fighters, a government military source said, adding that Houthi vehicles and artillery were destroyed by airstrikes.
Two government troops were killed and four injured, the source said.
For two months, the Houthis have been intensifying their attacks on the oil-rich Marib which hosts the headquarters of the government's army.
More than 7.000 fighters from both sides have been killed, unofficial statistics suggest.
