Taiz deputy governor dies of Covid-19

Taiz (Debriefer) - Coronavirus claimed the life of Taiz deputy governor early on Tuesday.
Abdul Hakim Aun died at Covid-19 isolation center in al-Jamhowri Hospital in the Yemeni southwestern city of Taiz, local and medical sources said, ten days after the government official was admitted to hospital.
In the last two weeks, Taiz became one of the three Yemeni governorates most affected by the pandemic, amid dire lack of medical supplies and oxygen cylinders at health facilities.
Humanitarian groups and activists have called for urgent curfew in Taiz, after the populated city saw awful increase in number of Covid-19 infections.
On Monday, the national counter-Covid-19 committee recorded 45 infections and two deaths in Taiz alone.
Nationally, Yemen recorded 4,881 coronavirus infections, including 955 deaths and 1,772 recoveries, though experts and medics say the real figure is higher by far than announces cases.
